It had happened way too quickly for him to react. Within' a few minutes, creatures swarmed the city and had smothered the districts within' it. Renoké and his friends had attempted to fight the beasts, but their weapons couldn't harm the creatures. Their last resort was to run. Renoké could barely stomach his friends being swallowed by the darkness that covered the city. Although, soon enough, the darkness managed to catch him, as well. It was like hands pulling him away as darkness covered his body and swallowed him. He could've sworn he was dead, all the life had left his body; he felt cold and empty. Perhaps, it was a feeling worse than death, as though all happiness was stripped from you and destroyed.
It was a rather odd thing when the darkness began to clear and Renoké found himself waking somewhere else. He was laying on his back, staring up at the dark sky, alluminated by the bright moon. He was laying on the edge of a cliff, he could feel his feet hovering over the edge. A breeze picked up, blowing some strands of his long hair into his face. He wanted to sit up, but felt too sick. Renoké wasn't in much of a state to be thinking, he was suffering on the ground in a state of shock. Almost nothing was running through his dead mind. His entire form was aching, before he knew it, he had passed out on the cold, hard ground.

He wasn't that old of a man at all, he was a mere 27 years. Although, Niaku looked fairly like an old man. His skin was scarred over years of fighting, but looked young and fresh. He didn't have a pruned face, but gray hair atop his head. He walked with a strong wooden staff that had rope tied around one end for gripping. He limped a bit when he walked and didn't have his left arm anymore. One could only ponder the things he had seen.
He was expecting someone to show up today. He could feel a presence; something dark. It reminded him of how he felt when heartless came near. It wasn't normal, though. It felt dark at first, but when the dark presence hit his home, it suddenly became pure again. He walked to where the man had appeared; not fearing him at all, despite the strong, dark aura around him. The man who had appeared became purified upon his arrival, the darkness stripped from him. Niaku didn't fully understand how that could happen, but it wouldn't be the first time he was surprised like this. He walked over to where the man lay and stared, with his green eyes, into the boy's deep blue eyes. He seemed to be dead, with the way he stared back. But then, suddenly, he fell unconscious. Unsure of what else he could do, Niaku picked up the boy and carried him into the castle, laying him in one of the apprentice bedrooms.

His head was spinning, it ached as though it had been cracked open and his brains slipped all over the floor. Renoké was curled up in some bed that was stranger to him. He turned over and slipped right off the edge of the bed. His hands gripped the blankets to try and stop his fall, but he ended up on the floor anyway. The blanket simply came down with him and covered his body, which was implanted on the wooden floor. He groaned a little before attempting to lift himself up. He got onto his knees before slowing rising to his feet.
His tired eyes gazed around the room, it was a cozy little bedroom, he liked it, even though he'd never been there before, it felt like home. He was still dressed in what he had been wearing during the attack. Ren began to wonder if he had been rescued from the event. His eyes peered out the window near his bed, where he looked out onto a vast forest that the sun shined down on. He picked up the blanket that had fallen on the floor and tossed it onto the bed, then exited the room through the doorway. He must've been in a castle, for the place was huge. It felt like it had taken him thirty minutes to get out of that place and into the front. But once he got there, he just stood at the doorway and looked out across the horizon.
